A vehicle lift is one of the most important workshop tools, and safety depends on correct use. Before lifting, technicians confirm the vehicle weight, lift capacity, and recommended lifting points. Wheels must be clear, the cabin empty, and loose items removed. The arms are positioned evenly, then raised slightly so the vehicle settles before final lifting. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack or unstable stands. Inspect lift pads, cables, locks, hoses, and controls regularly. A good workshop keeps service records and follows the manufacturer inspection schedule. When raising a car for brake or suspension work, apply wheel chocks and avoid sudden movements. For electrical or fuel work, consider whether the vehicle needs to remain grounded or powered. Clean floors, correct lighting, and clear communication prevent accidents too. A lift makes repairs faster and more comfortable, but only when operators treat it as serious equipment.
